This Sunday, from 1-5 pm, the Mariandale Center will host a benefit called Autumn Invitation: Echoes and Eco(systems) of Hope on the River.

The day’s events will include live music, a silent auction, a crafts sale and a quilt exhibition, as well as a chance to explore Mariandale’s autumn-lit landscape. Light fare will be included.

As Jane Hanley, Director of the Mariandale Center, puts it, the day will be a chance for the public to come and "get to know” Mariandle anew.

“Proceeds will benefit the Mariandale Center and its programs, which reach out to marginalized communities, provide respite for caregivers, and help people in terms of personal development and in healing,” Ms. Hanley says. “The day will also call attention to our land during this beautiful time of year.”

The event will feature a number of activities for guests to enjoy.

Visitors can bid in a silent auction that will include a week at a Florida home. They can also browse a variety of items hand-crafted by the Dominican Sisters of Hope and friends.

Dominican Sister of Hope Donna Brunell, OP helped to craft a number of the items available for sale.

“There is love and prayer stitched, or painted, or knitted into every item we have available,” she says. “My hope is that visitors go home not only having had a good time, but fully resolved to return. I hope they leave here looking forward to their next visit,  having experienced genuine hospitality, and having made new friends!”

The day also offers the opportunity to walk Mariandale’s 61 acres of land on the Hudson. Visitors are welcome to walk the labyrinth, enjoy the nature trail along the Hudson River, or gaze at the various gardens on the property.

Dominican Sister of Hope Linda Rivers, OP works at the Mariandale Center and helped to organize the event. She’ll be volunteering on Sunday.

“I’m just excited about the fundraiser,” says Sister Linda. “It’s going to be fun!”

Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Mariandale Center. For tickets, please order using the link above, or call 914-941-4455, extension “0” for credit card purchases. Please note in advance that the Silent Auction will end at 4:30 pm.
